Dr. Melvyn Burroughs 
Assistant to the Deputy Superintendent

Dr. Melvyn Burroughs is Special Assistant to the Deputy Superintendent for Chester Community Charter School. Prior to this position, Dr. Burroughs served as a Principal on the East Campus for nine years.  

Dr. Burroughs has more than 40 years of experience in the field of education. During his tenure as an educator, he has held the positions of classroom teacher, Director of Community-based Educational Services, College Administrator, Headmaster, and Principal.

In his new position, Dr. Burroughs works directly with parents to answer their concerns and solve school-related problems.  He supervises the Behavior Specialists across all three CCCS campuses and provides leadership and direction for them in their efforts to support the principals and classroom teachers. Dr. Burroughs also works directly with all school districts that provide transportation for CCCS students.

Dr. Burroughs earned his Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Massachusetts, a Master of Urban Education from Springfield College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Knoxville College. Dr. Burroughs is inspired by our students showing great progress against the many challenges that they face on a daily basis.
