Mr. Wilson has served as a principal since 2008. Under Mr. Wilson's leadership, the school has met or exceeded the state growth standard in Reading and Math; implemented a 1:1 Blended Learning environment in Grades 1-6; established a Digital Media Hub; and launched an incentive based school store, PawMart.
During the 2016-2017 school year, Mr. Wilson participated in Relay GSE’s National Principal Academy Fellowship where he was introduced to effective practices such as Deliberate Practice, Weekly Data Meetings and Observation/Feedback. As a result, there was a 8% increase for students in PSSA performance in Reading and 6.5% increase in Math during a 1 year's time.
Currently, Mr. Wilson was invited to participated in the Leverage Leadership Institute which involves educators from across the United States and several international educators who are selected because their schools are exemplars in student achievement. After completing the fellowship, Mr. Wilson will have the opportunity to earn status as a certified Leverage Leadership Instructor to teach the levers of instructional and cultural leadership identified in Leverage Leadership and join a community driving impact in schools across the country.
Mr. Wilson has been an educator since 2000. Prior to becoming a principal, Dontae served as a high school chemistry teacher. Dontae is a product of the School District of Philadelphia and a proud graduate of Central High School.
With respect to formal education, Mr. Wilson earned degree a Bachelor's degree at University of Delaware; a Master's in Education from Eastern University; a Master's Degree in Bible from Philadelphia Biblical University; and the Superintendent Letter of Eligibility. However, most of all, Mr. Wilson prides himself on being a life-long learner while attempting to use his knowledge of best practice to get better each day as we provide better outcomes for students.
